A Walk in Plainfield Township

By

On Saturday I decided to go the Plainfield Township walking path. I’d not been there before. The trailhead is located on route 191 in Belfast, which is less than ten minutes from my house. It is a there and back trail and I wasn’t too sure what to expect.

The trailhead was easy to drive to and in the past I probably drove past it a hundred times. and didn’t know it was there. It had a parking lot and the path was paved so it was good for cyclists and walkers.

The day was a bit colder than I was anticipating and it was damp with a mist hitting now and again. There were markers every half-mile. I expected a walk mostly between fields and that was true for the portion I walked. I went two and a half miles and then turned back to the car.

There was a period it ran near, but not on a roadway. Otherwise it was a quiet walk. There was a stream that went by the Little Bushkill Creek. The trail kind of follows it to the north and there are a few more trailheads between the one I went to and west Pen Argyl where it ends

During the time I was on the trail I saw five runners and that was about it. There were some birds and a home with a couple horses. I’m sure I’ll go back at some point and will do so when the weather is a bit nicer, but I got my 10,000 steps in, listened to a podcast, and enjoyed my time along the trail.
