The Resilient Seeker

What is a Resilient Seeker?

Once I identified what I valued and considered my signature strengths in relation to them, I attempted to describe myself and landed on a ‘Resilient Seeker.’

A Resilient Seeker understands their true being, embraces personal sovereignty, and lives by their core values in pursuit of living a life well-lived.

My true-being is being a lover of learning for the sake of the journey of exploring life on an immaterial basis.

It took me a long time to come to this description. I started by describing what I wanted, which was to be content: to have gratitude for all the experiences and possessions I have based on my past; to appreciate and feel whole in the present, while pursuing growth; and to have hope for a flourishing future.

These wants came from a time of serious reflection on my part. It was in direct response to my life experiences as a son who suffered the loss of a parent to terminal cancer, a married father of two daughters, who divorced his wife of over twenty years, an individual who had alcohol use disorder and related health issues, a professional who had a job and career change and came through it all without the need of prescription medications, therapy, or professional counseling.

In finding who my true self was and how I wanted to live my life, I reconnected with my core values and in the process I focused on my nutrition, better managed my relationships, and engaged more deeply in meaningful activity and scholarship.

I put my life at a higher risk than it ought to have been, I corrected it, and now I can say that I am finally living a life well-lived, because I have embraced being a Resilient Seeker.

My ‘simple’ goal is to share my personal experience and learning with others through this website, my writing, presentations, and in person, in order for you to understand your True Self and find growth opportunities to become who you want to be.
