Included below are my current activities and projects.

Read. Write.

2027 Greater Lehigh Valley Writers Group Anthology. I’ve submitted a personal essay titled, “The Mandolin” for consideration.

Neithan the Wronged (tentative title). A reader’s guide to J.R.R. Tolkien’s the Children of Hurin, presented as a biography of Turin utilizing a meta-textual framework which treats the published stories, lays, poems, annals, and other texts as history – not drafts.

The Grit Girl (tentative title). A contemporary story, set in Austin, TX 2025. FBI Supervisory Special Agent Kate Mercer is drawn from investigating a white hacker tip to an event incident to the murder of a person of interest to her investigation in less than one week. The case entwines her with Winnie Morris, an aspiring anti-influencer, influencer, who cares for her eighteen-year old neurodivergent brother, while building her Grit Girl Brand. Kate’s only understanding of GenZ culture is through her niece, Tina, who she runs with on a regular basis. It is a story of courage, perspective, and authenticity. A tragedy about trust, who we believe, and how we live when systems and structures designed to support us, fail.

Walk. Hike.

I try to get 10,000 steps a day, which isn’t too hard for me. I often walk to work and when I am off, especially in the summer, I use the Delaware and Lehigh Trails and Appalachian Trail on a regular basis as both are within 30 minutes of my home.

To date I’ve walked the D&L from south of Riegelsville in Bucks County through Northampton and Lehigh Counties to Glenn Onoko in Carbon County. I’ve also hiked from Delaware Water Gap to Lehigh Gap on the AT. There are also many other community trails near my home and Jacobsburg State Park.

Organizations

The Greater Lehigh Valley Writers Guild: I recently was added to the Board of Directors, primarily to represent the 2027 Write Stuff conference that I volunteered to assist with as I could. I regularly participate in Wednesday’s Writer’s Cafe open to members and non-members.

The Nazareth Area High School Athletic Hall of Fame: I continue to serve on the committee that selects inductees and conducts the annual induction ceremony held the last Saturday of September each year.

The Tolkien Society and the Second Breakfast Smial of Pennsylvania: As a member I participate in events including Oxonmoot and the Big Read, and Second Breakfast meets monthly to discuss all things Tolkien.

Professional

I continue to work at the Nazareth Area School District as an Associate Teacher, currently assigned to oversee the test room and support the Academic Support classes as I can. I also am supporting the DECA student organization this year.

Oxonmoot 2026 – Recap 7

For this recap, I selected three more sessions I found of interest although they mostly landed in my ‘why not?’ category. The Mirror of Gimli by Kate Neville arose from a prior talk she gave. It resulted in her considering the role of Galadriel, her conflicting tales various texts and versions and how love and…
